The Cemetary's History
The Père Lachaise cemetary takes up more than 100 acres, thus making it the largest park inside the Capital and the home to more than 1 million graves of unknown and famous persons .
In existance since more than 300 years, the former Mont Saint-Louis has become one of Paris' most important attractions.
A fair quantity of written information is available at the guardians' post, as well as information on visits.
